During a scientific press conference in Beijing in September 2010, CHANEL R&T presented the studies and work carried out on Asian skin and pigmentation, but also on Asian beauty. This comprehensive approach allowed us to meet the specific needs of Asian women and was illustrated through the intervention of Prof. Zhu, Department of Dermatology, Beijing University First Hospital and President of China Dermatologist Association; Prof. Zheng, Dean of the Faculty of European Languages; Prof. Liu, Chairman of the Department of Dermatology, General Hospital of the Air Force in addition to the presentation of the teams of CHANEL R&T.
Through a comparative approach, we showed that beauty/attractiveness criteria as well as skin aging signs significantly differ from one culture to another.
The integrative approach we adopted combines study of socio-cultural and environmental factors with the latest knowledge on the cellular and molecular mechanisms of skin function and aging. Hence, we are able to develop a pertinent solution for each woman in the world.
